The population in the United States of older Americans (65+) is currently growing at 300% the rate of general population growth and adults over the age of 85 will have doubled by the year 2015. There is a great urgency to find answers to the problems that older adults and their families face and to connect this knowledge to the community.  This can only be accomplished through an effort that combines quality research with a network of outreach.

The Institute of Gerontology is recognized as one of the Top 5 gerontology research institutes in the nation –
and the only one with a fully developed outreach and education program.

While our accomplishments have been great, with your help we can do so much more.  There are many ways that you can give to the Institute of Gerontology.  For more information and how your gift can make a difference to our research, students and the many communities we serve, please visit one of the links on this page.

                                                                                                             Research Endowment Fund
In order to ensure the future of research at The Institute of Gerontology, a Research Endowment Fund has been created.  This fund will provide resources to expand our research in the areas of Cognitive Neuroscience, Aging and Disability and Health Disparities and will allow us to investigate new areas of study.  For questions about this fund, or to give, please click here or contact Terri Bailey at 313-664-2611.
Institute of Gerontology Education Fund
A key part of the mission of the IOG is connecting current knowledge to older adults, their families and the professionals that serve them.  We accomplish this by providing a series of annual conferences, smaller learning forums, a weekly colloquia series, an active speaker’s bureau, and a media department that generates an IOG newsletter as well as articles for local and national mainstream publications.  The funding for this effort is generated almost exclusively by our benefactors.  For questions about giving, or to make a donation, please click here or contact Terri Bailey at 313-664-2611.
