Join the Board of Visitors leadership council on endowments and scholarships: this team brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to advance the cause of lifespan health research. The BOV meets quarterly to discuss the mission of the Institute and design a blue print for fundraising and development.

The Elder Advisors to Research (EAR) is an innovative, active group of seniors that provide the Institute of Gerontology with critical feedback on issues affecting the growing number of seniors in the Detroit metro area. The EAR serves as our eyes and ears in the senior community and provides the faculty and staff at the IOG with pertinent information to help in developing our outreach and research programs.

Join the Community Advisory Board and be a part of a ten-person oversight committee that manages access to a pool volunteers (PRP) interested in participating in current research on aging. These individuals will ensure that the safety and protection of the participants and the quality and that integrity of the research is maintained.

Participate in Research
Join the HBEC Participant Resource Pool (a pool of individuals that have agreed to participate in current research in the field of aging) Consider participating in future research projects. Health disparities still exist between African Americans and other ethnic groups, so more research is needed to determine causes and solutions. pool of potential participants is critical for this research.At the present time HBEC is trying to recruit African American men and women aged 55 and older who are willing to participate in noninvasive research.
