Issues in Aging

Issues in Aging ConferenceEntering its 22nd year, the Institute of Gerontology’s Issues in Aging Conference is one of the longest running, well-recognized professional conferences of its kind.

The annual conference is one of the foremost professional education and training programs in geriatrics and gerontology in the Midwest. The two-day event attracts speakers from around the country and attendees from throughout Michigan and surrounding states. In addition, the two days of expert presentations earn continuing education credits.

The first day is devoted to Alzheimer’s and other dementias; the second day offers insights in maximizing physical and mental health in older adults. This year’s topics included technologies for health aging, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for behavior problems, a Montessori model to enhance memory in Alzheimer’s patients, and a new model of care for chronic conditions.

Issues in Aging achieved record-setting attendance this past year of more than 250 professionals each day. Issues also attracts a select group of sponsors who provide services to older adults. After years of expert speakers, compelling topics and growing attendance, the future of Issues in Aging looks even brighter.
